Contractors

Pinnacle has unique expertise in the helping contractors and commercial lines insurers create and maintain contractor-specific insurance programs. We have even assisted several traditional insurance companies with rating algorithms and rate indications to help them penetrate the contractor insurance segment while leaving them adequately priced and reserved. For the contractor who is large enough to self-insure all or part of their liability or workers’ compensation exposure, Pinnacle can aid in designing future insurance programs or evaluating liabilities for prior programs.

Hospitality Industry/ Restaurants

Pinnacle’s special knowledge of risk retention for the hospitality industry can help corporations or franchises decide how much of their liability, auto and workers compensation risks to retain. Pinnacle also has experience in evaluating various insurance programs from their brokers.

For example, one common question we can help answers is “Should our restaurant franchise have a $100,000 deductible or a $250,000 deductible for their workers compensation?” Pinnacle can look at the company’s loss experience by loss layer and provide estimates of losses to be paid out at each deductible level. Pinnacle can even provide estimates of losses by units within a franchise. With the aid of an experienced broker and a Pinnacle actuary, companies can save money by controlling some of its own risk and passing the appropriate high-deductible layers to the insurance company.

Staffing Industry

Pinnacle works with several staffing industry leaders in assisting them with their alternative market insurance programs. In many cases, Pinnacle serves these clients by doing valuations of single parent captive liabilities or large self-insured retention liabilities. Pinnacle can take several years of a company’s loss experience and create a company-specific model for the purpose of these estimations. Clients use this information to set funds aside to budget for outstanding liabilities; to negotiate the pricing of future insurance policies or to close out older policy periods and remove liabilities from their books.

Trucking Self Insurance Expertise

The transportation industry is an area of specific expertise for Pinnacle. We serve a number of individual and group self-insurance programs that include large deductible programs and a variety of on-shore and off-shore captives (both group and single parent) that include more than 200 trucking companies. Beyond for-hire trucking, Pinnacle also has expertise in specific areas such as LTL, coiled steel, chemicals and petroleum products, sand and gravel haulers, agricultural trucking and other transportation industries such as ambulance services, taxicabs, bus companies and both ocean-going and river based cargo shipping.
